"It is not the magnitude of our actions but the amount of love that is put into them that matters." ~Mother TeresaMany things are unknown about this coming year. But so far, my plan is that I'm going to Tanzania, Africa with Kelsey Zuppan. The organization REACH is establishing an orphanage on the shore of Lake Victoria and we'll be going there to help start it. From our understanding, it's about three hours from a major town and internet, doesn't have running water (yet), but does have electricity. A couple from Canada will be going over with us to be the directors. Or should I say, we'll be going over with them. We'll probably be leaving in late September. In the meantime we wait. I guess I'll have many opportunities to work on my trust in God and my patience.
I love this verse in Matthew and thought I'd share.
"Let me tell you why you are here. You're here to be salt-seasoning that brings out the God-flavors of this earth. If you lose your saltiness, how will people taste godliness? You've lost your usefulness and will end up in the garbage.""Here's another way to put it: You're here to be light, bringing out the God-colors in the world. God is not a secret to be kept. We're going public with this, as public as a city on a hill. If I make you light-bearers, you don't think I'm going to hide you under a bucket, do you? I'm putting you on a light stand. Now that I've put you there on a hilltop, on a light stand—shine! Keep open house; be generous with your lives. By opening up to others, you'll prompt people to open up with God, this generous Father in heaven." (Matthew 5:13-16, Message)I created this blog so that you can read what Kelsey and I are up to. I have to admit that I'm not the best writer, so you'll have to bear with me. ;) But my hope is that this can be a way that I can keep connected with my family and friends at home.
Thanks for all your prayers and support! =)
Oh man! I am excited to live through you a bit while you are there. I LOVE this verse. By opening up to others, you'll prompt people to open up with God...this Generous Father in heaven..." So good. I miss seeing you often Lisa! Good luck with the end of this year and your preparations. :) Love EMily
